Ubuntu Multicultural Orientation

"Celebrating Our Shared Humanity"

On behalf of the Center for Graduate and Professional Diversity Initiatives, and the Graduate School, we would like to invite you to the annual multicultural orientation for incoming and continuing graduate and professional students, Ubuntu, on Thursday, September 5th, from 4pm to 6pm in the Harris Ballroom, UK Student Center.  With the theme of “Celebrating Our Shared Humanity,” we aim to foster a sense of community and belonging for our incoming and current graduate and professional students from various backgrounds. This is a family-friendly event.

Ubuntu 2024 will feature a resource fair with campus partners, event giveaways,  music, food, and fun for the entire family of our incoming graduate students. Click here to register! This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Brittany Rice, Assistant Professor, Co-Director, Markey Science Training in Research, Oncology, Networking, and Professional Growth (STRONG) and Post-baccalaureate Fellows Program. Dr. Rice is a proud UK alum and will deliver a message on the importance of the mentee/mentoring relationship and involvement in research opportunities while matriculating at UK.  The link here is a recent article about the work she is doing at UK: https://medicine.uky.edu/news/impact-research-uk-college-medicine-2022-01-31t17-00-08
