On behalf of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Region X, we invite you to attend our annual Regional Medical Education Conference held December 9th, 2023. We are a 501(c)3 organization, striving to meet the needs and address concerns of underrepresented medical students in Kentucky and Tennessee. The SNMA is the nation’s oldest and largest independent, student-run organization. With national membership over 8,000, we are honored to be celebrating more than 55 years of commitment to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians.

Our most significant undertaking of 2023 is our Annual Region X Medical Education Conference, December 8th- 10th, hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Our theme this year is “For the People, By the People: Addressing Intersectionality between Healthcare and Politics”. It seeks to take an in-depth look at the professional and personal experiences of minorities in medicine and the intersections of politics and advocacy in medicine. This conference will attract pre-medical and medical students and will have a unique focus on the recent changes regarding gun laws, reproductive rights, and transgender rights, among others, that have greatly affected our region and surrounding areas. There will be opportunities for networking with residency programs and medical school admission staff as well as a research symposium.
